NITDA To Foster Digital Literacy And Job Creation For Nigerian Youth

AREWA AGENDA – The Director General Of Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi had expressed the readiness of his agency in fostering digital literacy and job creation for the teeming Nigerian youth.
The NITDA Boss made this known in Kano on Sunday during the graduation ceremony of 1,353 digital apprentices by ENGAUSA Global Technology Hub (EGTH) in collaboration with National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Kashifu who stated that he was in the state to celebrate with the participants noted that out of the 1,353 graduates of the scheme over 30 percent of them which is about 400 have viably engaged in businesses, while also employing over 10 people each working under them as employees.
“I’m here to attend the graduation of 1,353 students who participated in the digital literacy in partnership with EGAUSA here in Kano.

He also noted that NITDA is working assiduously around the clock towards harnessing the talents of Nigerian youth, stressing that the currency of digital economy is data and youthful population, the two which he said Nigeria possesses.
Kashifu added that NITDA has an ambitious target of achieving 95 percent of digital literacy, and as well has a short term plan of training one million developers in the next 18 months.
While speaking, the CEO of EGAUSA Global Tech Hub (EGTH), Mallam Mustapha Habu Ringim expressed happiness towards the successful completion of the scheme for the 1,353 graduates, as he also appreciated the robust support of NITDA towards the success of the program.
He noted thathis organization has achieved a lot by graduating the total number of 1,700 since the commencement of the scheme from 2019 till date, and that while the good number of those graduated are entrepreneurs, workers in digital driven firms and renewable energy, while some of them are freelancers in digital technology.
“Alhamdulilah we are happy today because we have graduated over 1,700 graduates from 2019 till date and some of them are working today as entrepreneurs, some with digital driven firms and renewable energy, while some are freelancers on digital technology”, he submitted.
