Misplacement of Priority: Polishing Kofar Ruwa Underpass/Subway, amidst poor health and educational systems in Kano

AREWA AGENDA – It is obvious that proper health and quality education symbolises not only well-being and literacy, but rather, it represents global ranking and appreciative level of standard of living. In addition, health sector becomes indicator for any societal development, as well as educational sector and they both contribute to immensely to development. Hence, they utmost other sectors in human society.
So, we all believe that health and education are primacy for sustainable development. More so, they are believed to be basic necessity of our lives, without which our lives are in jeopardy.
KANO State Educational System
Inspite the popular slogan of “Ilimi Kyauta, Kuma Dole” which implies; “Free education and compulsory”, this emerged as a way to reduce the level of out-school pupils at the Kano State level and also to accelerate high literacy in the state.

But unfortunately, with all these developments of so called free and compulsory education, it jeopardises education at that basic level. This is due to lack of adequate learning materials, lack of conducive learning environment, which could be a factor leading to low performance of those(pupils) attending public school or government-owned school in Kano State.
Kano State Healthcare System
More over, the same scenario at government-owned hospitals or public hospitals. Government hospitals have very poor health care delivery systems. Everyone knows that and have no point in arguing.
I don’t know, how and why kano state government decide to spends over five hundred million naira (50,000, 000) for just polishing Kofar Ruwa-kurna subway/underpass, I’m very perplexed at this development.
Believe me or not, on this project government ‘backed up wrong tree’ and yet, it would not yields any utmost change in kano state in particular and Nigeria in general.
