Maryam Abacha varsity president donates N25m to newly inducted nurses in Nigeria

The President and Founder, Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar-Gwarzo, has donated N25million to the 257 newly inducted nurses by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, NMCN.

POLITICS DIGEST reports Mr Gwarzo made the donation during the induction ceremony of foreign-trained nurses who passed 2020 professional examination for General Nursing held on Wednesday in Abuja.

In his remarks, the President, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event, said the token donation was aimed at motivating the nurses in their professional pursuit, considering their vital role in society.

He, therefore, congratulated the newly minted nurses and their families for making it to the final stage.

Mr Gwarzo also donated N11million worth of record book of world accredited universities Vol. 1-10, to the NMCN, National Universities Commission, NUC, and the Federal Ministry of Education.

According to him, the record book, published by UNESCO, contains all the accredited universities and higher institutions of learning offering nursing courses across the world.

“The book will guide the council in reviewing the accredited universities and institutions offering nursing courses,” Mr Gwarzo said.

POLITICS DIGEST reports that 106 out of the 257 inducted nurses are graduates of MAAUN.
