Malaria Eradication: AMG Foundation partners Gwale LG on Fumigation

AREWA AGENDA – Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation has partnered with Gwale Local Government Area Council in an effort to eradicate malaria in 10 wards of the Local Government.

This was made known to the newsmen by the Senior Program and Partnership Officer, AMG Foundation Sulaiman Jalo at Chiranchi Ward of Gwale, Kano State during the fumigation launching on Wednesday.

Jalo revealed that the purpose of the fumigation is to eradicate the menace of Malaria diseases affecting the communities around the Local Government area as research has shown that children and women are dying as a result of the disease and 76% of the Nigerian population are residing in the high-risk area of being affected by the disease, also over 200 thousand died as a result of same Malaria diseases, hence Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation found it worthy to partner with relevant authorities to fight the spread of the disease across the LGA.

“The local government has provided the fumigation engines and Aminu Magashi foundation supported with Chemicals and incentives to the fumigators who will go round to the 10 wards of local government to conduct the exercise” Jalo confirmed

He also mentioned the latest intervention done by the foundation in the same Local Government whereby he recalled the provision of a water tank at the Primary Healthcare facility in Diso ward.

He later called on the community to make use of Mosquito Nets recommended by physicians to reduce the infectious diseases of Malaria by mosquitoes bite.

While speaking the local government Health Educator urged Gwale inhabitants to work in hand with the government in preventing the spread of similar diseases by sanitising their environment on regular basis.

Aisha Haruna Kabara, Councilor Health appreciated the effort of Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation for the special interventions in the Gwale Local Government area and also confirmed that the fumigation is joint funding on an equal basis by the Local Government and the Foundation. She later assured that the fumigation would reach the entire 10wards across the LGA.

Hon. Khalid Ishaq Diso, Gwale Local Government Chairman who is ably represented by his Deputy Hon. Bashir Kasim Dandago thanked the Foundation for the kind of support it renders to the various community in the Local Government.

In another development office of Gwale Local Government Chairman presented the award of excellence to Dr Aminu Garba Magashi in recognition of his selfless services and contributions to the development of Gwale LGA.
