A mild drama occurred at the Niger State House of Assembly on Thursday in Minna, following the impeachment of the Majority Leader, Abba Bala Mohammed and his deputy, Binta Mamman.

The impeachment of the duo was hinged on perceived negligence of duties by their colleagues.

But during deliberations, the Legislators decided to reverse the impeachment of the Deputy Leader, Binta Mamman against the backdrops of the fact that she has been in isolation for quite a while now for testing positive for COVID-19 and was said to have started recovering.

However, the decision of the members on the impeachment of the Majority Leader, who is representing Borgu Constituency stood as the legislators did not back down.

The legislators however expressed regret that the Majority Leader, allegedly abandoned plenary at a time when an important matter of the presentation of the report of the 2021 budget estimate.

The motion for the impeachment was moved by the member representing Bida 1, Bako Kasim Alfa, and it was seconded by the member representing Wushishi, Constituency, Mohammed Lokogoma.
