Kwandala Foundation Distributes Relief Materials to Maiduguri Flood Victims

In the wake of the devastating floods that struck Maiduguri, the Kwandala Foundation has stepped in to providing critical relief materials to thousands of displaced individuals.

This initiative aims to bring hope and support to those affected by the disaster.

The floods have left many residents in urgent need, prompting Kwandala Foundation to donate essential items at the Mechanical Workshop Camp, an internally displaced persons (IDP) center.

The relief effort included immediate health consultations, which offered observation, diagnosis, prescriptions, and free medications to flood victims.

In addition to healthcare, Kwandala Foundation provided basic necessities, such as food, toiletries, sanitary materials, and essential wares.

They also supported the Mala Kachallah Primary Health Care unit with vital medical supplies, including sanitary items, diapers, and medications.

Victims expressed profound gratitude for the assistance but highlighted ongoing challenges, urging government intervention to help them rebuild their lives and safeguard their properties from looting.

Local authorities have acknowledged the importance of external support in relief efforts.

Mallam Hassan Bayero, a representative of the local government, commended Kwandala Foundation and other donors for their contributions.

He pointed out the need for enhanced security measures to protect properties abandoned during the floods and assured that the authorities would monitor the relief efforts closely.

Arch. Tijjani Mohd Musa, President of Kwandala Foundation, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to humanitarian service, emphasizing their mission to assist affected communities.

He expressed hopes for the IDPs to restore their lives and announced plans for continued support and future donations.

The foundation also praised Borno State’s ongoing efforts in caring for IDPs, stressing the critical need for safety and property protection.

Meanwhile, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has raised alarms about the risk of malaria and waterborne diseases, including cholera, following the floods. They are calling for urgent preventive measures and interventions to safeguard the health of the affected population.

As Maiduguri begins the long road to recovery, Kwandala Foundation and other organizations are committed to providing the necessary support to those in need.
