KSH Foundation Equips 300 Young Girls with Digital Skills Across Nigeria

In an effort to enhance internet connectivity and digital literacy among young girls, KSH Foundation has successfully engaged and trained 300 young girls across Nigeria through her EveryGirl 2.0 (Girl Connect) Virtual Training initiative.

The EveryGirl initiative focuses on virtual training and immersive experiences to empower participants with essential internet and digital skills required to survive in the evolving world.

KSH Foundation made this known in a press statement signed by Augustina Okpechi, Project Lead, EveryGirl initiative, KSH Foundation on Friday.

“As a foundation, we are incredibly proud to have set a bedrock for these young women on which success stories will emerge and witnessing their passion and enthusiasm for continued learning has been very rewarding. We are exceptionally grateful to our tutors, a significant contributor to the success of the program” Jennifer Ijeh, Community Manager, KSH Foundation.

Owei Sylvia, a participants said, “Girl Connect was such an amazing experience. I got a lot of insight into how data travels across the internet, cyber threats, and how to practice cyber wellness. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to be a part of the program.”

“When we started the program at the center, our young girls thought this was going to be another class on computers. However, we transitioned from that to understanding how to leverage the internet and social media in their future career paths. I especially loved the tutorial on volunteering because this was an aspect of learning that came to me later in life, and I am glad that is not the case for these young women,” Amina, a program assistant from WiDS Abuja reflected on the program’s impact.

From 300 participants, 15 exceptional young girls are selected for the immersive phase of the program which offers continued learning opportunities, a fully funded immersive experience in Abuja, laptop enablement, and 90 days of group mentorship. These participants will benefit from hands-on learning and mentorship, designed to solidify their understanding and application of the skills acquired during the virtual sessions.

The EveryGirl 2.0 (Girl Connect) training included comprehensive training sessions on courses such as Introduction to Internet Technology, Internet Communication Tools and Cyber Consciousness, Utilizing Web Browsers and Social Media, Managing Digital Presence and Digital Promotions, Careers in the Internet, and Cyber Wellness. This phase of the program saw successful partnerships with numerous hubs and non-profit organizations nationwide which were crucial in facilitating the virtual training.
