Kebbi Police Intercepts Drugs Worth N. 6bn

Nigeria Police Force, Kebbi State Command have intercepted two trucks of fourth by fourth foot container with registration plat numbers T- 21608 LA, T- 21520 LA all Lagos number loaded with compressed Indian hem and suspected be cannabis sativa along border road of between Kebbi State and Benin Republic, in maje- Tsamiya District of Bagudo LGA of the state.

This was disclosed by the command PPRO SP Nafi’u Abubakar during a press briefing to journalist at the police command Headquarters on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi.

The command PPRO said the two trucks was intercepted on the 10th of September 2023 by the men of the Kebbi police command attach to border patrol team at Maje-Tsamiya in Bagudo LGA of the state. Stressing that after searching the two trucks compressed Indian hem suspected to be cannabis sativa of 4,927 parcels, 7,500 live shotgun cartridges and 4,906 another parcels of compressed Indian hem all recovered in the two trucks.

However, he further explained that the first truck was intercepted with 4,927 parcels of compressed Indian and arrest three suspects, dirver and two others namely : Emmanuel Chukwuma of Bende local government, Abia state, Kanta Bisa of Asaka Local government, Ghana and Shola Adeyemi of Olufan, Akure local government, Ondo state all the same truck and was coming from Ghana to Togo to Benin Republic and then cross Nigerian border via Bagudo LGA of Kebbi State.

Similar, the second truck was also intercepted with 7,500 parcels of compressed Indian hem and 4,906 shotgun cartridges and the dirver Abdulrazak Agboola of Iyana-Ajiya Area of Ibadan, OYO state was arrested but other suspects with him runaway while searching, but the police command will get them arrested not sooner than later.

He also said the matter is under investigation and other curpirits that runaway will soon be arrested, after investigation the command will apply the necessary actions. All the compressed Indian hem intercepted is wroth of N.6 billions Naira.

In an interview with journalist, the dirver of the first truck, Emmanuel Chukwuma, said he took cartons of drinks from Lagos to Ghana on his way coming back he was contracted to carry 4,927 parcels of compressed Indian to Lagos at the rate of four hundred thousand Naira.

Adding that One hundred thousand Naira was given to him as deposit and from Ghana to Nigerian border he passed successfully. But on reaching Nigerian border where said i beat up nine security agencies checkpoints, but unlucky to me police border patrol team intercepted the truck and turned me back to maje-Tsamiya in Bagudo LGA where they search the truck and recover compressed Indian hem.

He further narrated that thereafter he was arrested along with two others inside the truck and we are all moved down to SCID in the police command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi including the truck. On reaching to the police command all of us we are under series of investigation.

Equally, the second truck dirver, Abdulrazak Agboola from Ibadan Oyo state, explained to journalist at the police command that, he was in Ibadan when he received a telephone call from Benin Republic that they need him to come to Benin Republic and drove a truck down to Akure, Ondo state at the rate of two hundred thousand Naira but after delivery, but unlucky for him, the truck was intercepted and he was arrested for being in possession of 4,906 compressed Indian hem and 7,500 live shotgun cartridges. Now am on police net, while they are investigating the matter.

He said the people that contracted me they have runaway when police border patrol team is searching the truck and leave me. Iam now under police custody.
