Kano State Govt Targets 50% Mass Vaccination, Seeks Media Support.

AREWA AGENDA – Kano State Ministry of Health in collaboration with State Primary Health Care Management Board conducted a one-day media roundtable and orientation on Covid-19 Mass Vaccination Campaign In the State, yesterday.

The roundtable was graced by the Journalist across the state at Tahir Guest Palace, Kano aimed at engaging themin creating more awareness about the vaccination of Covid-19 in 2022.

The state Director Disease Control and Epidemiology ,Dr Iman Wada said confirmed that Kano State is getting more advancement in vaccination process since the launching of Mass Campaign of the Vaccine in December, 2021.

Dr wada emphasized that, as Federal Government mandate inline with the National Primary Health Development Agency and Kano state Primary Healthcare Management Board is doing all it’s possible best to curtail the spread of the pandemic through using with media as a tool of Mass Campaign for the achievement of providing proper healthcare atmosphere from all nooks and crannies.

 

He also addressed the media stating that “this is a mass vaccination scale up campaign that will showcase the targeted numbers of Kano population to be vaccinated at 50 Percent within the shortest period of time as we target over three million individuals in January,2022 and over Seven Million at the first quarter of 2022.

 

 

“This will improve Accountability, and communication with likemind people, engaginng media and relevant stakeholders to push more campaign and awareness about the vaccine, he said.

 

“However, the current rate of our statistics in Kano is increasing for the registered numbers of vaccine on daily basis, people who were vaccinated acrossed the 44 local government area is at the figure of 20 thousand daily, so far the vaccinated population is above 3 million since the Covid-19 vaccine campaign started in the state.”

 

While commenting, a participant and Health Practitioner, Dr Musa Sufi said, a lot of Non Governmental Organization has contributed immensely in creating awareness and sensitizing Religious and traditional leaders on the vaccine safety, which as a result of that, the indices increased and it has ease the Government on the campaign so far.

 

 

Dr Iman urge Journalists to use their professionalism as they serve as the bedrock to the societal development and contribute their part in public enlightenment about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, the Government cannot do it alone without the media intervention.
