Kano recruits massive youths, women in politics as a result of WE-YOU-PRO campaign – CITAD.
AREWA AGENDA – The Senior Program Officer of the Center for information and Technology Development CITAD Mal Ali Isa Garba said many youths in Kano has been recruited in politics after the first training of 150 women and youth in the WE-YOU-PRO campaign organized in Kano, supported by Action Aid in collaboration with CITAD.
Mal Isa said this in a continuous activity in training youth to actively participate in the state while merging them with politicians as their mentors to make them achieve their potential goals in a political career.
However, The youth have come together from different parties to make the movement positive in Kano, the WE YOU PRO campaign has successfully recorded the achievement where most political parties have created a space for women and youth to participate in various positions in Kano State, picking nomination forms despite the challenges of prices,
Mal. Isa later said, the structure of leadership in various parties also changes and we believe it has come to be stay till the next generations benefited from what we built.

Malam Isah added that the first 150 participants have done down series of step-down training, forming a structured network of Kano youth and women aspirant from all parties, Advocacy visits to many politicians and political parties with a lots of engagement on having Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) In the state.
Hajiya Halima Garba, a lecturer at Saadatu Rimi College of Education said, as a lecturer this training has shaped so many negatives narratives by the way women shunned politics in the state which goes with the stereotype of society, as many young women have emerged to face the race into political parties in the state.
Dr Tijjani Yahaya, Financial Secretary of the People Redeem Party, Kano state chapter posited that, in the last 20 years, the country has had negative impacts on youth and women in politics as they are marginalised, most especially in the northern part of the country.
However, the movement of youth and women in politics now in the state has gone to a big milestone, a clear example with our Governorship candidate of PRP party, Salihu Tanko Yakasai a vibrant youth that has all the potential requirements to be a Governor in the state and other positions. A participant from Dala local Government, Comrade Umar Mukhtar Isa said, attending the program of the WE YOU PRO campaign has made many of us understand the basic elements to be used in diving into politics starting from the grassroots, youth mobilization towards the development of our community, volunteering in building capacity building training and engaging stakeholders to know the citizen’s rights as well.
