Revealed: Why Kano Police Dislodged Local Hunters Providing Security Covers To Emir Sanusi’s Palace
As the battle for Kano royal stool between the 14th and 16th Emirs Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, and Aminu Ado Bayero intensifies, reasons have been given why the state police command dislodged local hunters, and thugs, also known as ‘Yan Daba’ who were until yesterday being Sunday, acting as security covers in the palace currently occupied by the 14th Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II.
The information was obtained by our correspondent from a reliable source who is in the know about the state’s security matters.
The source confided that this is part of the efforts by the police to implement the directives of the State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, who charged the security forces to end the menace of thugs’ activities across the metropolis.
Recall that PRNigeria reported how the hunters, known locally as ‘Yan Tauri’, were mobilized from across the state and station to man the Kofar Kudu palace which Emir Sanusi has been occupying since his reinstatement by the State government.
Meanwhile, the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero is taking shelter at the Nassarawa mini palace where he is being guarded by the federal security agents.
A security official in the state confirmed to PRNigeria that the police have taken full control of both the two Emirate palaces following the Governor’s outcry.
“I can assure you now that we have cordoned and secured all the two palaces.

“As a result of the Governor’s order, our men act swiftly by dislodging the thugs guarding the palace being occupied by Emir Muhammadu Sanusi.
“Because their continued presence and corresponding activities of which involve using hard drugs and other substances constitute security threats to the surrounding communities.” the source added.
Meanwhile, the security official decried how intelligence reports showed that there is currently ongoing mobilization of ‘local hunters’ (also known as ‘Yan Tauri) by some mischief-makers into the metropolis with the motive of causing public disorder.
However, he advised politicians to desist from engaging in any activity capable of causing the breakdown of law and order within the entire state.
PRNigeria reported that there has been tension ever since the abolishment of the four Emirates as well as the dethronment of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and the subsequent reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi by the State government.
The court had last week voided Sanusi’s reinstatement and asked the state government to halt the implementation of the Kano Emirate Council (Repeal) Law, 2024.
The judge, Abdullahi Liman, ruled that his (Sanusi) reinstatement was null and void because the government disobeyed the court’s earlier order restraining it from taking further action on the new emirate council law of the state.
However, people are considering this recent police action as another plan by the federal authorities to relocate Aminu Ado Bayero back to the main palace.
