Kano Police Arrest Fake Officer, Warn Against Impersonation

Kano State Police Command has made a significant arrest, taking down a fake police officer who was extorting money from innocent citizens. On November 18, 2024, at 1:30 pm, the police received a credible tip-off about a suspicious individual posing as a police officer attached to a court in Ungogo LGA, Kano State.

According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, ANIPR, MNISMA, Police Public Relations Officer, For: Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, the suspect, Hamisu Ibrahim, 42, of Jangaru Village in Ungogo LGA, was arrested and preliminary investigation revealed that he had been extorting money from innocent citizens by posing as a Court Duty Police Officer. Two persons have already testified that the suspect extorted money from them under false pretenses.

Commissioner of Police Salman Dogo Garba directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ungogo Division to effect the arrest, demonstrating the Command’s commitment to sanitizing the system and protecting the public. This arrest is a testament to the Command’s efforts in rooting out individuals who undermine the good work of the Police in Kano State.

The Kano State Police Command has been active in promoting its officers and ensuring public safety. Recently, 154 Traffic Wardens were promoted to various ranks, and 11 senior police officers were decorated with new ranks.The Command has also inaugurated a seven-man committee to oversee the 8th Triennial National Delegates Conference in Owerri, Imo State.

The Police Command’s efforts to maintain law and order in the state are commendable. Commissioner Dogo Garba has emphasized the importance of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to serving the public. The Command’s dedication to recognizing and rewarding hard work and dedication is evident in its promotion and decoration ceremonies.
