Kano Police Command Alleges Plot to Disrupt Eid-el-Fitr Celebration
In a bid to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Kano State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Gumel, has revealed that the authorities have uncovered plans by “faceless persons hiding under some Islamic sects” to cause mayhem during the festivities.
Commissioner Gumel made this known during a meeting with Islamic clerics and representatives from the five Kano emirate councils on Monday.
He assured the public that the police have taken proactive measures to thwart these criminal activities.

“We have some names that hide under the guise of the Qadiriyya Islamic sect trying to cause disharmony,” Gumel said. “So, we have spoken with the leader of the sect, Sheikh Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara, and he has dissociated himself from them and even given the go-ahead to arrest anyone trying to disrupt peace.”
The Commissioner further revealed that intelligence units have also identified “politicians who were not satisfied with the ways things were going or didn’t get appointments” who might attempt to disrupt the peace.
He emphasized, “I have directed police officers to arrest anybody they find with weapons or trying to create uncertainty among the people.”
