2023: Kano NNPP Inaugurates Fundraising Committee
AREWA AGENDA – Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the leading opposition political party in Kano state, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced its Fundraising Committee.
The party also fixed February 4th for fundraising dinner and launching of crowd funding activities
This was contained in a statement signed by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Chief Spokesperson of the Presidential/Gubernatorial Campaign Council in Kano.
According to Sanusi, the committee will be headed by veteran politician, edu-preneur and former deputy minority leader of the Federal House of Representatives Dr. Sulaiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila.
While unveiling the fundraising Committee members and leadership in a ceremony at the state campaign secretariat in Sharada, Kano state, The Director General of NNPP Kano State Campaign Management Team, Dr Gwani Ali Abubakar also announced the former Executive Secretary of the TETFund Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi as the deputy chairman, with Engr. Nura Hussain Na’abba and Sanusi Bature as secretary and deputy secretary respectively.

Other eminent personalities earmarked to serve in the committee include Alh. Adamu A. Y. Maikifi, Dr. Kassim Batayya, Alh. Dayyabu Ahmad Maiturare, Alh. Gambo Danpass, Sen. Rufa’i Hanga, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Alh. Garba Hungu, Nasir Danfaranshi and Wali Danchana.
The NNPP fundraising committee also has Hon. Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Hon. Badamasi Ayuba, Dr. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, Rt. Hon. Isyaku Ali Danja, Hon. Lawan Hussain and Rt. Hon. Zubairu Hamza Massu as members.
In his speech, the NNPP gubernatorial candidate for Kano State 2023 Engr. Abba K. Yusuf popularly known as Abba Gida Gida described the choice of Hon. Kawu as meritorious, considering his vast experience in the national politics and as an erudite political scientist.
“We are in safe hand with Hon. Kawu as chairman of this committee, I want to urge all and sundry to cooperate with him to effectively discharge this huge responsibility” said Abba Gida Gida
Abba Gida Gida who doubles as the chairman of the state campaign council, revealed that the committee will work on behalf of all candidates jostling for different political positions in the state, as all recourses would be used through a unified campaign structure for presidential and national assembly election, as well as gubernatorial and state assembly election.
While responding shortly after the inauguration ceremony, the Chairman of the fundraising committee and also Senatorial candidate for Kano South Hon. Dr. Sulaiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila announced 4th February 2023 as the proposed date of the NNPP fundraising dinner and launching of crowd funding activities in Kano.
