Kano Hisbah Lays Siege On Betting Centres

Kano State Hisbah Command has begun clampdown on shops and centres offering betting services across Muslim residential areas in the state.

The Deputy Commandant of the board, Mujahid Aminudeen said this followed its “Illegitimacy and unacceptable in Islam.”

He said the raid being carried out followed a complaint lodged before the command by community leaders and parents of youth who lamented over the activities.

On its first raid, the command had successfully closed down 30 shops within a community.

The deputy commandant added that the command will continue to close down and deal with their operators as it’s against the law.

He revealed that there are shops selling and allowing intake of alcohol and betting at Christian residential areas but will only close if it gets to know that Muslims are patronising those places.
