Kano Govt Sues For Peace Ahead of Appeal Court Verdict Today
As the appeal court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, is set to deliver judgement today, in the Kano state governorship election dispute involving Governor Yusuf Kabir Abba of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Mallam Nasir Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the state government has charged citizens to remain calm and avoid acts capable of causing breakdown of laws and order.

Recall that the NNPP filed appeal against the judgement of the Kano Governorship Election Tribunal, which declared Gawuna as winner of the governorship election conducted in the state earlier this year in March.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Kano by the state commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, on Thursday, he said the advice becomes necessary as some may take advantage of the situation to cause breach of the peace
Dantiye, stressed that the need for people to maintain peace for the development of the state and country at large is very vital.
He also called on security agencies to double their efforts in ensuring that law and order are maintained as well as ensure full protection of of lives and properties of the citizens in the state.
