Kano Gov’t  Provides Lifeline to Vulnerable Family

By Waziri Kabiru

Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has extended critical support to a vulnerable family, highlighting its commitment to alleviating hardship among the less privileged.

On November 15, 2024, the Ministry aided Malam Abdullahi Mohd, a Calabar native who has lived in Kano for 29 years. Disowned by his family after converting to Islam, Malam Abdullahi has built a new life with his wife and nine children in the state.

Represented by Permanent Secretary Hajiya Amina Yusuf Yargaya, the Honourable Commissioner, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani, facilitated the donation of essential food items—including flour, rice, maize, and palm oil—to sustain the family and bolster Malam Abdullahi’s wife’s cooking business. Additionally, the Ministry paid the family’s house rent for a year.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Malam Abdullahi and his residence’s caretaker commended His Excellency, Governor Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf, for establishing the Ministry, which plays a vital role in supporting Kano’s most vulnerable. In a gesture of appreciation, Malam Abdullahi pledged to name his future daughter Amina or Yusuf after the Honourable Commissioner or Governor.

Acknowledging the economic challenges, Hajiya Amina Yusuf Yargaya urged the public to join hands with the government in assisting the needy. “Even the smallest contributions can create a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need,” she remarked.

This initiative reflects Kano State’s unwavering dedication to reducing poverty and enhancing community welfare.
