Kano Consumer Protection seizes fake drugs worth N50m
AREWA AGENDA – The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) has intercepted a trailer loaded with fake and unregistered drugs worth N50 million transported into the State.
This is made known in a press released signed by the Information Officer of the Council, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa on Thursday.
He said, “the truck which was intercepted at about 3:30AM (Midnight) at Filing Parking by Igbo Road Sabon Gari, was conveying Drugs such as Coll Cap- Unregistered, Solidrex- imitation, Basuka- imitation and Chest and Lung which was discovered to be unregistered”
However, the driver and owners of the dangerous drugs managed to escape after they fled and abandoned the vehicle and the content upon siting the men of the Council.

The Acting Managing Director of the Council, Hon. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi revealed that the operation was carried out after intelligence reports gathered by his men leading to the seizure.
He warned that those who are into the illegal business should know that there is a new Sherif in town as such, it is no longer business as usual as his office will do everything possible within the confines of the law to arrest and prosecute anyone guilty of supplying fake, expired and contraband drugs to the State.
Baffa charge the general public to be more vigilant and join hands with the State Government in the fight against drug abuse and unwholesome products in the State which poses grievous danger to the human health.
He said his office is always open to receive credible information that would aid the activities of the Command to checkmate the neferous businesses of unscrupulous persons in the society.
