Ahead of World NGO Day, KANET Vows to Sustain Grassroot Impact

The Kano Network of NGOs (KANET) has vowed to give renewed strength to activities of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Kano State, towards making the needed grassroot impact for sustainable growth and development.

The resolution was reached, Tuesday at a planning meeting held by the network ahead of the World NGO Day slated for 27th atFebruary 2020.

Speaking at the assembly, Dr. Musa Abdullahi Sufi of the Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation and Secretary General of KANET noted that the need for such step has become imperative in view of the fact that there are so many NGOs operating in Kano who do not understand the nitty gritty of the job.

“In line with the United Nations Sustainable Goals, we have to collaborate, come together as different platforms, pull resources together, build and build capacity. We can only achieve this through networking, smart advocacy, partnerships and volunteerism he noted.”

Nura Ahmad Mufarka, Bilkisu Ado Zango, Sunusi Hashimu, Sulaiman Jalo, Zainab Nasir Ahmed among others present at the occasion gave their various inputs.

In the end, as part of its activities to mark the World NGO Day, it was resolved that KANET will conduct a Capacity Building Training targeting members of 40 Civil Society Organizations, visit to a correctional center to free 10 inmates, hold a press conference and also pay a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser on NGOs.
