Jigawa Govt Mulls Establishment of Road Transport Agency, JAROTA
Jigawa state government is mulling the idea of establishing road transport agency.
The state may establish Jigawa Road Transportation Agency, JAROTA, aimed at sanitizing transportation activities and boost Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, in the state.
The newly appointed chairman, Jigawa state Internal Revenue Service , JIRS, Alhaji Nasir Sabo Idris dropped the hint during a dialogue between tax payers, tax collectors and other state and non state actors, organised by agency with support of Tax Justice and Governance Platform, held on Wednesday at state Secretariat Dutse.
He explained that, during the dialogue alot of challenges related generation internal revenue in the state have been identified an also developed a strategies to address the challenges.

According to him, after his assumption to office as new chairman JIRS he discovered that the major challenges board is related to shortage of manpower which resulted to low mobilization of domestic resources.
He maintained that, other challenges include, leakages in revenue collection process, lack of additional revenue sources, and less or no effective tax awareness in the state.
Alhaji Nasir Sabo who emphasizes on financial inclusiveness said, some of the tactics he will apply to address manpower challenges is use modern technology to simplify the activities of the board.
The chairman added that, his board will look at the possibility of establishment of Agency like (KAROTA) as well as recruitment of casual tax collection workers for more revenue generation.
He then seek more support and cooperation from both tax generation agencies and entire Jigawa citizens particularly the business organizations for elevating the state from being dependent on external revenue.
While making his remarks, the executive director Prime Initiative for Community development who represent Tax Justice and Governance Platform, Comrade Mohd Abdu Dutse said, the platform is working to ensure proper tax collection and utilization for better Jigawa state.
