ISWAP Fighters Ambush Troops, Kill Civilian JTF Leader, 4 Others In Borno
AREWA AGENDA – A leader of the Civilian Joint Task Force(CJTF) alongside four of his team members were killed during an ambush on Nigerian soldiers in the North East of Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
Others were reported to have also sustained various degrees of injuries.
Gubio is around 80 kilometers north of the restive capital of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

It was gathered that military convoy was on on patrol in the wee hours of Monday between Gubio to Magumeri when they were ambushed by suspected Islamic State of the West African Province(ISWAP), insurgents, around river Kulu’u Isaram.
An Intelligence Officer, told Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert in the Lake Chad, that the attackers opened fire at the vehicle conveying the CJTF Chairman, simply identify as Mandama, killing him and four others members of his team.
The sources said that some of the troops also sustained bullet wounds during a cross fire with the militants while extricating themselves in the ambush.
“The deceased were evacuated to Gubio town for burial later in the day,” he said.
