Insecurity: Tech Firm Expresses Confidence in NASS, ICT Ministry Collaboration

Security technology company, E.F. Network Limited, which recently unveiled an anti-kidnapping application, said the decision by Nigeria’s senate to extend an invitation to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, over the growing rate of insecurity in Nigeria, as appropriate.

Spokesperson of the firm, Mr Ameh Ochojila in a statement, described the Senate’s invitation to Pantami as timely, before Nigeria falls deeper into the hands of terror gangs.

The technology solution – efphonetaxi- is an app designed to recover phone owners’ data, lost, or stolen phone, also has an anti-kidnapping tool to help combat the spate of kidnapping, and other crimes Nigeria Police are battling to unravel daily in Nigeria.

Ochojila explained that the senate had mandated its two committees, on Legislative Compliance and Communications to invite the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy to impress on him the need to implement the resolutions of the Senate regarding security related to the mandate of his ministry.

Rising under Order 42 and 52 of the Senate Rules, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP – Taraba South), noted that “the rate of insecurity in Nigeria has not only increased astronomically but has reached a melting point.”

He raised alarm that “bandits, terrorists negotiate for ransom using telephones and getting away with it”, querying, “how can we be so negligent and insensitive to the safety and security of citizens?”

Also commenting, an Abuja-based security consultant, Wale Anado, said some of the crimes and criminality that haunts citizens daily in the country could be averted and prevented with a simple deployment of advanced technologies such as efphonetaxi.

“It is on record that stolen phones have been connected to many crimes, as criminals would not use their own registered phone numbers to commit phone related crimes, similar to how car thieves use stolen cars to commit crimes, “he added.

Anado further explained that, the answer is for the government to encourage citizens and public institutions, as a matter of policy, to embrace innovative technologies such as efphonetaxi.

“With phone owners having such solution as efphonetaxi it could avert crimes and recover their stored records on the phones, and lock the phones from unauthorized users” he said.

The security expert advised Nigerians to embrace the technology- efphonetaxi as it will reduce and expose the number of phone related crimes, which the Nigeria Police respond to on a daily basis across the country, in particular, where the victims are injured or even killed.

The efphonetaxi.com app renders a stolen phone useless when remotely locked and also facilitates the arrest of the thief.
