Health Intervention: DG HMB, AMMKaS, Vows to Actualise Drug Revolving Fund Regulations in Kano
The Director General of the Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo has promised to expedite action on regulations of the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) in Kano State.
The DG made the commitment well receives delegates of the Accountability Mechanism for Maternal and Child Health in Kano State (AMMKaS), who paid him an advocacy call to push for compliance with the DRF and Drug Management Consumable Supply Regulations (DMCSA), strengthening internal market, and also providing bed space for clients at the Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital in the State.
While promising to expedited action on the call and other internal market issues, he explained to the team how his administrations established cash and carry principle and introduced Polaris Bank for revenue collection.
He however expressed regret that the hospital has no extra land for expansion among other challenges that includes shortage of power and water supply.
The DG commended the activities of AMMKaS in promoting the healthcare system in health facilities in Kano state which he described as a vital feat that ensures harmonious coexistence between health workers and members of the communities.

Responding, the Executive Director of AMMKaS, Hajiya Hafsat Kolo promised to continue supporting the DG in actualising the DRF regulations.
The Drug Revolving fund (DRF) was a program put forward by the state government to ensure additional infrastructural development and improved human resources.
The Sustainable Drug Supply System Programme was implemented by the Kano State Government to ensure the availability and accessibility of qualitative drugs at all time.
Similarly, the Drug Management and Consumables Supply Agency is intended to bring a lasting solution to health commodities security in all the tertiary, secondary, and primary health care facilities in Kano State.
Recall that in November 2016, the Kano state government reiterated its determination to partner with any non-governmental organisation for accelerated development in the health care services in the state.
The former Commissioner of Health, Dr Kabir Ibrahim Getso, made this known while signing the reviewed operational guidelines for drugs revolving fund (DRF) and deferral and exemption (D&E) scheme developed by the ministry in collaboration with non-governmental organisation (MNCH2) held at Zaria town at the time.
He said the action would certainly boost the supply of drugs and improve the system in both secondary and primary facilities in Kano state.
