In a petition tittled “Addressing Marginalization of Hausa-Fulani in Ardo Kola Local Government: A Call for Fairness and Justice” the group explained that the representation of the Hausa-Fulani community has been notably absent from key positions in the area.
The petition reads thus:
“Currently, the Member representing Ardo-Kola, Karim, Lau Federal Constituency is Wurkum, Taraba state House of Assembly member representing Ardo-Kola is Mummuye, and the commissioner from Ardo-Kola hails from the Kona tribe. While we acknowledge the importance of inclusion and diversity, we must address the glaring underrepresentation of the Hausa-Fulani community in these leadership roles.
“We firmly believe that fairness and justice lie at the core of a thriving democratic society. Therefore, we humbly request that immediate steps be taken to rectify this imbalance by allowing a qualified Hausa-Fulani candidate to clinch the seat of chairmanship in the upcoming elections.
“This measure would ensure that every community within Ardo Kola Local Government is given equal opportunity to contribute to its development and progress.
“The Hausa-Fulani community has long been an integral part of the local government, making valuable contributions to its cultural fabric, economic growth, and social harmony. By empowering a Hausa-Fulani candidate to assume the position of chairperson, we would foster a sense of inclusiveness and create a more equitable political landscape within our local government.”
