Harvest of Deaths in Ilorin: IEDPU calls for prayers
AREWA AGENDA – Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has called on the people of the community to come together with a view to offering concerted prayers to Allah towards halting the spate of deaths hitting the Emirate in recent time.
The Union, in a statement signed by its National President, Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman, fsi,said that the call has become imperative in view of the transitions to the great beyond of prominent indigenes of Ilorin as the year inches to an end.

The Union lamented that while the community and Kwara State was still mourning the demise of the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete, Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi,SAN, it was hit by the death of the Honourable Justice Safiya Titi Daibu. He added that as if that was not enough the demise of Alhaji Isiaka Hanafi Aberi was also announced in addition to other recent similar occurrences.
While sympathising with the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari,CFR,and the families of the deceased on the unfortunate episodes, Alhaji Uthman encouraged the respected monarch to direct the Council of Ulama of the community to organise a special prayer session towards putting a stop to this harvest of deaths. He added that all sub communities, families and mosques as well as individuals at home and in diaspora should also follow up the communal prayers with repeated supplications.
He added that the Union believed that the situation is a challenge that could be arrested with nothing but prayers.
