Gov. Zulum Unveiled First Private University In Kanem Borno.
AREWA AGENDA – Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum Mni fnse attended the Ground breaking Ceremony of the proposed Al-Ansar University in Maiduguri.
The University is described to be the first in the entire Kanem Borno and Second to known in the entire North East sub- region. Founded by Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa President of Al- Ansar Foundation.
In his address the founder and president of Al-Ansar Foundation acknowledged the giant support of the governor in providing location and 100 hecters of land to the university to meet the National University Commission criteria that premised today’s events.
Describing the proposed University said the university when fully developed shall have a general Entrepreneurship Unit, a school of Postgraduate studies, a Business School and eleven (11) Colleges, while for the start the University will take off with 2 Colleges of management and Social Science, Computing and Science as well as the General and Entrepreneurship Studies Unit.
Performing the Foundation laying of the university the governor appreciated the foresight of the founder Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa for the initiatives saying in will go along way in addressing the root causes of insurgency in the state which are not limited to pervasive illiteracy and poverty.
The governor further said, the establishment of the University will give way to the achievement of his 10- packed agenda as well as the state 25-year Development plans therefore the state will align itself to the establishment of the University as such directed the state Ministry of High Education Science Technology and Innovation to provide the state government with necessary inputs on how best to support the course.
On behalf of the North East governor’s Forum the governor directs the Director general of the Forum Senator Abba Aji to table the Issues of supporting university in the forum subsequent meeting.
