Gov Buni Awards Contract for construction of 22.4 km Nguru Roads and Drainages

AREWA AGENDA – Yobe State Governor, Maimala Buni, has flagged off the construction of 16 kilometers Nguru-Bulanguwa Asphalt road and also-ran the construction of 3.2 kilometers township road with a corresponding 6.4 kilometers drainages

He explained that the contract work for the construction of the Nguru-Bulanguwa road was awarded to Messrs Faris Construction Company Nigeria Ltd. after meeting all requirements for the award of the contracts at the cost of One Billion, Nine Hundred and Seventy-Three Million, Eight Hundred and Sixteen Thousand, Ten Naira Eighty-Six kobo (N1,973,816,010:86) with a completion period of 12 months.

The governor however said that the projects were demonstration and commitment of his administration to provide basic infrastructures to the people of the State while noting that his administration had in its first year recorded remarkable achievements, especially , in the area of construction of roads to open up more settlements and promote socio economic activities in the benefitting communities.

“The construction of the road was aimed at facilitating easy movement of goods and services, as well as to enhance farming activities in the local communities and to promote commerce among the border communities along the Nigeria and Niger borders” Buni said

Governor Buni however appealed to the Faris Construction Company Nigeria Limited to justify the confidence reposed in the company by adhering to the terms of contract and time frame to enable government commission the project on time for the benefit of the people.

The governor added that similarly, contract for construction of the Nguru township road and drainage was awarded to Mother Cat Nigeria Limited at a total cost of Eight Hundred and Sixty-Three Million, Nine Hundred and Twenty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and Six Naira, Seventy-Six kobo (N863,927,506.76k) with a completion period of six months.

“This is to enhance free movement of goods and services within Nguru town and to further spur socio-economic growth of the town while the drainages would help in curbing the perennial floods suffered by the town every year”.

“I would like to enjoin the people to support and cooperate with the construction firms handling these projects to ensure timely completion of the roads”, Buni said.
