Gov. Badaru awards N570m water supply contract for Dutse metropolis
AREWA AGENDA – The state government of Jigawa led by Governor Muhammad Badaru Aubakar has awarded contract for the supply of portable drinking water at the cost of N570 million to respond to the yearnings and cries of people of Dutse metropolis.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon, Ibrahim Garba Hanun Giwa, while responding to questions from newsmen at the Government House Dutse, regarding shortage of water affecting some quarters in Dutse metropolis.

He said a total of 20 out of the over 30 boreholes to be drilled were completed successfully, saying that only one has problem adding that when the projects completed the problem of water shortage in the old city of Dutse will be over.
It will be re called that people of Fagoji, Limawa Galamawa Marabusawa, Gadadun, Jijinri and Takur site had complained of lack of regular water supply, adding that they only get the commodity during the night occasionally.
The commissioner queried the Managing Director to explain to him why such areas were not getting water, stressing that only one out of the six electric generators supplying power to Shiwarin water treatment plants was working.
He added that a memo of N3.8 million has been submitted to the government with a request for the overhauling of the water boost generator and refurbishing of the machines, stating further that a transformer worth #5million is to be procured that will help in boosting water supply to the affected communities.
