Appreciating the significant number of individuals in dire need of assistance, Governor Yusuf emphasized that governmental efforts alone are insufficient to address these needs.
He lauded Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s benevolent gesture, urging for Allah’s protection, increased faith, wisdom, and continued success for the philanthropist.
In response, Alhaji Aliko Dangote disclosed the foundation’s plan to distribute one million bags of rice, valued at over N13 billion, across all 36 states of the Federation and Abuja to alleviate the country’s suffering.
He mentioned that this initiative is in addition to the foundation’s ongoing daily distribution of 20,000 loaves of bread to Kano residents and 15,000 to Lagos residents, which commenced in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dangote elaborated that the Ramadan meals provided include a variety of options such as jollof rice, white rice and stew, jollof spaghetti, yam, beans with chicken and beef, each accompanied by a bottle of water and a beverage for each recipient.
He further explained that these packed meals are distributed at Juma’at mosques, streets, prisons, orphanages, remand homes, and various locations within Kano City and its surroundings.
