Ganduje Deserves a Global Award On Environmental Sanitation, By Abbati Bako

AREWA AGENDA – An interesting write-up to read based on the fact that any leader around the world either leads via conventional means or classical leadership. Conventional leadership is common in all parts of the world. But perfect and classical leadership is unique and only a leader with foresight, vision, mission, focus and iron-clad political will can make decision or policy that will make him be remembered by his citizens.

The world has changed and will continue changing. Science and Technology have been the perfect path for global development and is a nonstop journey.

Environment is one of the global issue of discussion in all parts of the world. The United Nations (UN) has been the leading global authority in policy formulation on preventive measures on environment in all nations. Also, NGOs and other organizations are sharing paradigm on protecting environment. Nigeria was among 173 nations signed the Paris agreement on environmental sanitation. Kano State is currently one of the leading State in Africa that Environmental problem has been strictly under control. Kudos to H/E Ganduje for such tremendous efforts to make Kano clean.

In Kano State, the Executive Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (OFR) has been focusing his attention on how the State could be out of environmental degredation especially refuse disposal within the 8 metropolitan LGAs of the State.

As a result of H/E’s good intention; agreement was reached with a private company to take over the activities of refuse disposal in the State. The company called “CAPEGATE” (the company has branches in Germany, China and Poland) entered into agreement with a view to make Kano clean; of which the company will be converting the refuse into energy, organic waste into fertilizer and has inherited about 2000 REMASAB staff, and will continue training them in the country and abroad. The staff will be paid handsomely and about 4,300 new staff will be employed along the way. The company will pay Kano State Government N50m this year and N100m annually from next year. And again, the company imported 36 refuse disposal lorries, 8 compactors and 16 mini trucks. Scavengers will be trained on how to handle refuse and other waste in safe ways. Refuse bunkers will be sited at different locations in modern means that will alert the the company when refuse reaches a certain percentage to be removed or compacted. This means that the system will be handled like in any developed nation of the world.

Refuse is no more a waste in the world today. Refuse is being traded and converted into energy for human development. The world have seen changes as refuse is now a trade for import and export in the world of science and technology.

The people of Kano State should thank H/E Umar Ganduje (OFR/Khadimul Islam) and be supportive for the good works his Government has been doing in Kano State. There is no iota of doubt that if late Audu Bako (of blessed memory) was the foundation father of Kano State; H/E Ganduje is the father of modern Kano. Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s legacy will be remembered in the next hundreds years to come.
