Foundation Trains Journalists, Influencers on Effective Use of Social Media
AREWA AGENDA- Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation trained stakeholders, journalists and social media influencers on the effective use of the platforms in attaining the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The foundation gave the training at Tahir Guest Palace, Kano State on Sunday with the sole aim of strengthening the capacity of Journalists, NGO’s, Social Media Influencers, Students and Professional bodies to harness the positive impact of social media as a modern way of communication and disseminating information.
Technical Adviser of the Foundation, Dr. Musa Abdullahi Sufi (MAUN Scholar) served as a resource person who presented various papers on the best way of engagements in disseminating information on social media and reduction of fake news which is harmful to Nigerian peaceful coexistence.
Sufi showcased some of the humanitarian interventions of Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation based on the key operating areas of the foundation which is education, health, water sanitation, access to justice as well as gender across the country.
Among the foundation track records were drilling more than 200 boreholes in urban and rural areas, sponsoring large number of students on the stability of their education ranging from primary up to tertiary institutions in Nigeria and diaspora, sensitization of health workers and supporting them with all necessary items to enhance the healthcare accessibility among the most vulnerables, promoting Girls Child Education in accordance with Sustainable Development set Goals few to mention.

However, the training paved way to an interactive session on whether Social Media could be control for the sake of tackling the spread of fake news and promoting verified news contributing to the peaceful coexistence of the country.
After the successful training, Dr Musa Abdullahi Sufi led and entourage of the attendees to a tour of Maryam Abacha American University, Nigeria (Kano) permanent site.
The entourage learnt that the first class private university is almost completed with the provision of standard scientific labs, ICT centers, Senate Building, underground Sport Arena and lecture theaters.
Sufi said the tour to the University was to showcase some of the positive news about the humanitarian activities of the Professor Gwarzo as an aspiring young individual achieving this momentum in his own life at the age 43 years who is able to establish a standard universities across the globe, one in France another in Niger Republic and now the Nigerian permanent site is almost done.
“Even this Maryam Abacha American University is part of his own philanthropic Initiative, he left many businesses to build the education sector of our country looking for the congestion of our universities in Nigeria, the public universities cannot accommodate all and there is need for the key to any societal development, which is education” Sufi asserted
He further said the University is indeed a Private University but not like others who capitalize their interest on huge profit, rather MAUN aimed at creating accessibility and availability to quality education among our teeming youths at affordable rate.
