How Flood Caused Damages In Bauchi
Three people have been confirmed dead due to flooding, which has also caused significant damage across three local government areas in Bauchi State.
The heavy rainfall lasted for three days, resulting in the destruction of homes, farmlands, and valuable assets worth billions of naira.
Mas’ud Aliyu, Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), confirmed the casualties and damage during a visit to the affected areas with a delegation led by Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim.
Aliyu reported that the flooding has displaced thousands of people and devastated their livelihoods, including livestock and crops, particularly in Katagum, Shira, and Giade LGAs. The Azare-Isawa road was washed away, leaving many communities isolated

On behalf of the governor, Barrister Kashim expressed condolences to the victims and assured them that the government would provide relief to mitigate the impact of the disaster.
The assessment team inspected the damage, focusing on the Giade-Shira highway, which was completely destroyed, as well as the Giade-Azare Road and the Azare-Jama’are section of the Kano-Maiduguri expressway, which had been severed.
The committee also distributed relief materials to affected communities across the three LGAs.
In response to the crisis, MotherCat Construction Limited has temporarily repaired one section of the cutoff road to help ease traffic on the Kano-Maiduguri expressway.
Project Manager Fady Khoory Hanna stated, “As part of our corporate soci koal responsibility and with our long-standing presence in Azare, we decided to make the road passable again to alleviate the suffering of motorists.”
