Federal Ministry of Labour Embarks On 3-Day Workshop to 1000 Graduates in Kano

AREWA AGENDA – The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in conjunction with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and German-based developments agency Duetsche Gesellchaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) are hosting a 3-day training workshop for 1000 unemployed graduates on employability in Kano State.
While briefing our Reporter at the venue, the Kano State Comptroller Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr A. Aliyu said, the reason behind the training is to address the unemployment issues suffered by the teeming youth nationwide.
“As you know most of the social vices that we are facing are due to unemployment and my Ministry have a major role to play in reducing the rate of unemployed graduates across the country” Mr Aliyu affirmed
Answering the question of the outcome of the training on whether the Ministry would serve as a ladder in employing the teeming graduates or provide them with allowances and grants at the end of the training, the State Comptroller confirmed that, the training is solely designed to educate the graduate as the highest contribution his ministry can offer to the unemployed teeming youth.

He said “Our aim is to provide them with skills on how to acquire job by themselves, the purpose is not to come and give them money or employ them directly. Our intention is to teach them how to either be self-reliant or how to have the techniques of even making application, and writing a CV to seek employment elsewhere despite some having the skills. At least to make them (graduates) relevant and show their employers they are employable workers, that is our purpose of been here”
Among the participant Z.S. Tsanyawa who commented on the expected outcome from the training said, “I think they are trying to train us in a kind of entrepreneurial sector or government jobs to have some experience in writing a good CV and interview tips”
While Aliyu Idris who happened to be among the unemployed graduates expected the outcome to be in cash or kind with the idea of empowerment to the unemployed graduates, he said ” … for them to empower us with capital so that we can expand our businesses or look into others to build”
The training was opened today 31st May and is expected to end on Thursday 2nd June, 2022 with two batches in attendance.
