To establish the facts, PRNigeria fact-check watched and listen to the video where the leader of the group delivered a letter to the Emir for onward delivery to Federal Government.
The findings revealed that the group was the Kano Coalition for Peace Ambassadors, who were received on the first day of the nationwide protests.
The Emir could be heard urging the team to be peaceful in their engagements with authorities.
The group’s coordinator, Nasiru Usman Na’ibawa, revealed that they were in the Emir’s palace to present a letter to the Emir, to be conveyed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing their disapproval of the protest due to fear of violence.
The letter they presented confirms that the group’s intention was to express their support for peaceful protest and to appeal to President Bola Tinubu to address some of the National challenges, especially Insecurity and hunger, that the masses are facing.
Conclusion
Based on these findings, PRNigeria fact-check concludes that the claims of Emir Bayero inciting protesters in the viral video are false. The video shows the Emir receiving the Kano Coalition for Peace Ambassadors, who were there to present a letter of solidarity for peace protests.
