EXCLUSIVE: How Kano Accountant General Undermines Law With Indiscriminate Postings
The Accountant General of Kano State Abdulkadir Abdussalam has ordered the posting of Account and store officers to various government ministries and parastatals.
According to a source who pleaded for anonymity, the Accountant General made the move to bring some of his associates close to him irrespective of whether they were competent or not.
Mr. Abdussalam went ahead to order the posting of store officers under the state ministry of finance which is totally against the law under the provision of Public Finance Management Law 2020 and Kano State Store Regulations.
The source told this paper that Abdussalam posted out many competent Account Staff numbering 172 without experience and grade level consideration to pave the way for irregularities.
While announcing it in a rush, this paper sighted the name of an Account Staff of the state Ministry of Information posted to 3 different ministries.
A staff of the State Ministry of Information was posted to the Ministry of Agriculture as Head of Account, Justice as Account Staff and KNARDA as Internal Auditor.

When contacted over the matter, the Director of Inspection and Training Ibrahim Lawal Boyi defended the action of the Accountant General that the posting was not in any way against the law but he could not do so on the posting of the store officers which was outrightly reversed by the permanent secretary because of not following due process.
When asked by this paper whether there is a Political motive behind it, he said “There is no politics on the matter”.
A staff of the Ministry called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to intervene to avoid contradicting the law by allowing due process to take place.
