Ex-Women Affairs Minister, Aisha Alhassan, is Dead
AREWA AGENDA – Former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Alhassan, is dead.
Alhassan, aged 61, died on Friday in Cairo, Egypt where she was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
Born on the 16th September, 1959 in Jalingo, Senator Alhassan, fondly called Mama Taraba, represented Taraba North in the red chamber between 2011 and 2015 on the platform of PDP.
She later decamped to APC and emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the 2015 general elections where she ran a campaign that was adjudged as very robust and effective but lost to the incumbent governor.

She returned back to PDP in 2019 after the general election and became one of the pillars of the party in the state and at the national level.
Confirming her death to THISDAY in Jalingo, the Publicity Secretary of PDP in Taraba State, Mr Andetarang said her death was a big blow to the party in the state.
He described her as a national icon whose popularity and followership transcends Taraba State and would be missed across the country, stressing that her loss is a monumental loss to the country.
