Engr. Ramat, 4 others shortlisted for UN appointment

AREWA AGENDA – As the tenure of the current International Director For Regional Affairs of the International Association of World Peace Advocates IAWPA draws to an end, the association has announced that it’s global headquarters in New York, USA has received nominations from very qualified and well placed personalities to occupy the now vacant position of International Director For Regional Affairs.

The International Spokesman of IAWPA Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke who collaborated the report from New York in Abuja Nigeria said the eventual successful candidate will be unveiled to the public on Wednesday the 9th day of December 2020 and his name will consequently be submitted to the United Nations as well as other agencies and departments with which IAWPA has working relationship with.

Amb. Nkweke said those whose nominations have been shortlisted include Amb. Prof. Eunice Mutaki from South Africa representing Southern Africa, Amb. Mrs. Cathrine Ngongoseke from Kenya representing Eastern Africa, Amb. Bishop Martha Ndaba from Cameroun representing Central Africa, Amb. Eng. Abdullahi Garba Ramat from Nigeria representing West Africa as well as Amb. Alh. Razaq O. Razaq from Morocco representing North Africa.

While commending the immediate past International Director For African Affairs of the association Amb. Elder Jerome Tom Shimbe from Benue state Nigeria who until the end of his tenure was Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Benue state for his efforts in repositioning the association to greater heights, said selection to the position of Director For African Affairs of the association is highly competitive and  strictly based on merit, competence and commitment to the progress if the association adding that the candidate that will eventually emerge will make his or her first appearance at the UN ECOSOC Youth Summit 2021 to discuss issues concerning the affairs of youths across the globe.

Amb. Nkweke also said the organisation has concluded plans for the incoming Director For African Affairs to attend the United Nations High Political Forum billed for 9tg July 2021 among other duties he or she will perform for the first one year.

He also informed the public that to cap activities of the year, the association will be hosting it’s Ambassadors Dinner Banquet in Nigeria on the 17th of December 2020 at the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja.
