ENDSARS: Kano Youths Protest Dissolution of SARS, Calls for Reformation
AREWA AGENDA – A coalition of Youth Organizations in Kano under the auspices of Movement for SARS reformation conducted a peaceful protest faulting the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), insisting reformation is a better option.
Inspector General of Police Muhammad Adamu on Sunday announced the dissolution of SARS over protests in some parts of the country on the activities of the squad, replacing it on Tuesday with Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).

However, despite this, ENDSARS protesters have also changed their hashtag to #EndSWAT on Twitter to oppose the new unit, established on Tuesday and continues with the protest.
Solacebase report that the convener of the youths coalition, Comrade Khalid Sunusi , appealed to the Kano State governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to call on the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari to the need to reform the police and the squad to streamline the operations of the unit and ensure that the operatives selected to work under the unit are of the highest physical, mental and professional standings.
The protesters later proceeded to Kano State Government House to present a letter to the governor for onward transmission to the President.
