Education and Qualifier Examination; A Sharing Paradigm For All

AREWA AGENDA – I have written a lot and said a lot on education as the connerstone and imperative part of human life. Education is priority #1 in all parts of the world. Education is the pillar of human life and development in any country of the world.
But sincerely speaking, no single social or scientific part of human existence can tackle the issue of education alone. Education is a sharing paradigm between parents, community and then the government; the greatest contributions should be from the children and their parents.
The most important contribution should come from the parents to ensure registering their child into the lower levels; primary, secondary and up to the higher level of university or colleges. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure regular attendance of the child to the school for not less than 17years; by then the young human has reached the level of ‘learning the knowledge” (first degree is learning the knowledge, second degree is understanding the knowledge and third degree is creating the knowledge) this means that the parents’ responsibility to ensure the child has followed the instructions, rules and regulations of the school at all levels.
The community either at rural or urban areas must share the responsibility as well of child education. The sharing paradigm of community is important because of the fact that each household has to cooperate with each other to ensure regular attendance of their children to school, discipline, monetary contributions to ensure quality of education or even building community schools with assistance of government and other wealthy people in the community. In any part of the world community has a very huge contribution to offer for the development of education.
It is the responsibility of government to design policy on how to provide education for its citizens and ensure the policy is implemented by the Stakeholders.
Government workers in the sector of education such as teachers, law makers are responsible for the implementation of government policies on education. There must be need for sharing paradigm to ensure positive results.

Government of Dr. H/E Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been doing the best to ensure quality, free and compulsory education in Kano State. The Governor has employed the services of thousands of teachers, built hundreds of classes, millions of education materials and admitted millions of students into different lower, upper and higher levels of education and no single month for the past six years that salaries and wages for the teachers are not paid. Teachers are in the forefront of receiving their salaries at the end of every month in Kano State.
The Governor of Kano State has dedicated his time and has been following the rules and regulations of UNESCO, the Global Authority on Education and one of the agencies of United Nations (UN). UNESCO’s proscription for allocation of 26 percent of annual budget to education has been under implementation in Kano State’s 2021 and 2022 budgets.
Where are the lapses? This writing appeals to the people of Kano State to understand that the lapses are not from the part of Kano State Government. Because it has done it’s own part making sure of policy formulation and implementation of the the system. It was some months ago that the State Government approved and signed an agreement to build 5,000 houses for the teachers in Kano State. The question here is, is there any State that has done a similar gesture to teachers in Nigeria?
Hence, the current massive failure in the Qualifier Examination statewide is not only the responsibility of the Government or teachers; the parents, the children, the community are all at fault; and recently the lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic had contributed immensely to the interruption of educational activities not just in Kano State or Nigeria, but the whole world. Therefore, it is advisable for the education stakeholders in Kano State to form a classical committee that will enable the Stakeholders to find out where the lapses come from (as mentioned above) and how to tackle them. This is because education is a sharing paradigm for all not for Government alone, but for parents and the community at large. No nation will toy with education because the current and future generations are the beneficiaries of the system and future leadership only comes from educated elites. In view of this writing the Government of APC in Kano State is doing the best it can to ensure quality, free and compulsory education in Kano State. Kudos to the Governor of Kano State Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (OFR) for his tireless efforts.
