Dissecting Dividend of Democracy in Yobe

AREWA AGENDA – Within two years of his second term in office Yobe state, Governor Mai Mala Buni has shown that he is truly committed in rhe advancement of Yobe people.

He has eqaully demonstrated his resolve to protect the interest of the masses which should not be sacrificed on the altar of political expediency or in pursuit of a narrow selfish agenda.

Buni’s administration monumental achievements speaks volume since his assumption in office in 2015.
The administration has demonstrated its passion for issues concerning the citizens and state as a whole

He has relentlessly addressed matters of great concern to the Yobeans and quickly earned a reputation as people’s governor, hard-working and tolerant.

Sime of the achievements are in the areaof infrastructural development, health care delivery, educational development , roads, agriculture,
women/youth empowerment and also providing local and foreign scholarship and most importantly building the confidence of the citizenry in the state.

Even though the state had its own bitter taste of the Boko Haram insurgency and other related security breaches the administration has left no stone unturned in its concerted efforts to combat insecurity in the state.

It would be recalled that Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni visited all the Service Chiefs and other Head Of Security Agencies toward finding lasting solutions in ensuring peace and security across the state.

Last years alone, the Yobe state government provided over 400 vehicles as logistics support to the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air force, Nigerian police, and other security agencies.

To Fast track his administration’s goal in the development of state educational sector considering Yobe State is home to about a third of Nigeria’s 13.2 million out-of-school children, the Governor convened the state’s first education summit.

The summit’s target was to proffer solutions to the sector. The administration of Governor Mala Buni’s has made significant landmark in revolutionising the education sector in the state.

As we speak, the administration has plans to establish two model primary schools and two model junior secondary schools in each of the three senatorial districts to expand access to education by the school age children. The plan would be further extend to cover each of the 17 local government areas.

The development has sparked off increased school enrolment in the state and also renovation of structures burnt down by the Boko Haram insurgents. Construction of new ones in the local government councils affected by the insurgency and other local government areas of the state are ongoing in line with state of emergency declared by the administration on education.

Though the state like others is facing financial challenges, the administration has able to take the bull by the horn to execute developmental projects which have direct impact on the people.

The administration also sponsored hundreds of both girls & boys best students to study in Petro- Chemical Engineering, medicine, and & pharmacy among others in Indian. Some were also sent to Al Azhar University, Cairo to study Qur’an and Arabic Language.

Toward achieving Socioeconomic Blueprints of his administration in the state, the governor wooed local and international investors toward investing in state’s vast mineral deposits and also met representative Qatari investors from the office of Sheikh Saoud Bin Nasser Bin Khalid al-Thani aimed at exploring best ways to set up a cement company and meat processing factory in Yobe State.

The administration revived, resuscitated and upgraded the equipments in the government owned companies
like Gujba Fertiliser Blending Plant, Polythene, Woven Sacks Factory, and the Yobe Flour and Feed Mills and the Sahel Aluminium Companies to production.

The administration had intensified its efforts to put back these companies to boost internal revenue generation and create employment opportunities for the teeming population.

The atste has also witnessed the construction of new Township Roads, Housing, Modern Markets in major towns and provided befitting Trailer Park in Potiskum and completed projects inherited from the former administration.

Within the years under review his administration has enhanced healthcare delivery to the people of the state by providing state-of-the-art medical facilities and equipments to provide the best services to the people.

Meanwhile, the administration has also provided one primary healthcare centre in each of the 178 political wards in the state.

Governor Mai Mala Buni has proved to be a selfless leader and an uncommon administrator, who thinks more about his peoples feelings than of his own.

It is worthy to note that Buni’s administration has been commended by many because of the impact of his developmental strides on the people of Yobe state.
