Customs Generate Over N2Billion Revenue in Kano, Jigawa
AREWA AGENDA – The Nigeria Custom Service Kano/Jigawa Command says it had generated the Sum of over N2 Billion Internal Revenue in the month of August this year.
The Command Comptroller Nasir Ahmad stated this while briefing journalists in kano.
He said they are using all avenues to block Smuggling which has now become an evil monster among the Boarder Communities.
He said the N2 billion generated revenue in Kano/ Jigawa Command was first of it’s kind and it was as a result of the absolute commitment exhibited by officers and men of the command.
Comptroller Nasir Ahmad noted that the main problem they are facing in dealing with smugglers is lack of cooperation from the boarder communities,saying Traditional Leaders needed to support the command in curtailing the challenge.
“He said” the main challenges our officers and men are facing is that some traditional leaders at the boarder communities are supporting their Children who are into Smuggling and despite all that we do they still remain on prowl”.
Shedding more light on the allegation that custom’s personnel have been raiding Markets to seize contrabands, the Controller explained that they have the legal Warrant to raid all places suspected to hideouts of contrabands.
Comptroller Nasir Ahmad stressed that they would not relent in fighting smuggling activities with the aim boosting the Nation’s Economy.
