CoP Achieves Milestones in Zero Dose Immunization Advocacy

The Kano State Community of Practice (CoP) has made remarkable strides in addressing zero dose immunization and reaching missed communities through targeted advocacy efforts.

During a quarterly review meeting on September 28, Dr. Musa Muhammad Bello, the state focal person, highlighted the CoP’s success in enhancing collaboration with local lawmakers and health ministries.

Dr. Bello noted that these advocacy strategies have secured permanent representation for CoP members in budget discussions, fostering better understanding and support from the Ministry of Budget and the Ministry of Health.

This collaboration aims to improve accountability and transparency in immunization funding, ultimately raising awareness about zero dose children among stakeholders.

Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, the coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN), praised the initiative’s success and underscored the importance of continued advocacy for sustainable immunization funding, which will help increase coverage in underserved communities.

The CoP, part of the Zero Dose Learning Hub project, is supported by GAVI and implemented by AHBN and AFENET.
