Civil Defence To Provide Security During Political Campaigns In Gombe
AREWA AGENDA – The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has given the assurances of contributing its quota to the creation of an enabling environment for the peaceful conduct of political campaigns in the state.
The Gombe State Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Waziri Baba Goni, told journalists in Gombe that the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, had made adequate provisions of over 200 additional officers of the corps, as well as various incentives for their smooth operations.
Mr. Goni said the command in Gombe had been given adequate arms to work with in various terrains in the state, so as to ensure a safe environment for the smooth conduct of campaigns by political parties in the state.

“All these things that we need have been sent down last month to us and we have distributed some and we kept some for the needed time, (for in case of in-casity). We have everything we need to tackle the Kalare thugs and the likes. We are ready for them,” said Mr. Goni.
He called on political parties, politicians and their followers to conduct the campaigns in a peaceful manner, by educating their supporters to play by the rules of the game, for peaceful conduct of the campaigns and subsequently, the elections.
According to him, no meaningful progress can be made in any society where there is chaos, unless deliberate efforts are made to by every member of the society to ensure peace.
The Gombe State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps also urged parents to never relent in providing guidance for their children to be law abiding citizens of the state, so that the state could make meaning progress.
