CHRICED Interfaces With Kano South on Community Accountability

The Resource Center for Human Rights and Civic Education ( CHRICED), has continued its anti corruption campaign Project phase 2 in Kano state.

This was made known by CHRICED Executive Director, Comrade Ibrahim zikirullahi who was represented by CHRICED senior programs officer, Mr Adewoye Omoniyi earlier this week.

According to him, Community-Driven Anti-Corruption Initiative project in Kano is targeted at providing an avenue for a dialogue between the constituents and their representatives in governance .

He exuded the confidence that the project will get rid of corruption by ensuring transparency and accountability as well as holding legislators responsible, and accountable on constituency projects in the state.

Abdulrashid Adamu from wudil LGA said , Kano south senatorial districts has experienced several abandon projects with less tracking records from the youth.

“The Establishment of CHRICED Anti corruption Project in wudil has built courage within youth in tracking constituency Project”, Adamu said.

Another participant shafa’atu Adamu umar from sumaila LGA also shared his experience. He said that, over 10 years abandoned roads from sumaila to Rimi – Magami road have been tracked and , that he will submit the report to anti graft agencies to further more investigation.

Speaking at the occasion, Kano – Jigawa Assistant commissioner of The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission(ICPC) Malam Abubakar jibril, emphasized on reports of constituency Transparency Project in South senatorial district, while also charging the youth to utilize the knowledge acquired to track abandoned projects in their localities.

Also, speaking was Economic and Financial Crimes Commission kano Head of investigation desk Mr. Aminu Bashir, who encouraged the participants to always come up with tangible and accurate reports.

According to him, it would help in tackling and reducing corrupt practice in kano entirely.

The two anti graft agencies, the ICPC and EFCC assured all the people of Kano state of effective service and collaboration to tackle corruption.
