CATAI, Adamawa Collaborates on Strengthening Education System as Stakeholders Approve Draft Policy
In a significant stride to enhance education service delivery, the Adamawa State Government in collaboration with the Centre for Advocacy Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI) held a one-day workshop at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola, on the 23rd September 2024, aimed at validating the newly developed Adamawa State Policy on Education.
The draft policy, which aims to provide a comprehensive framework for improving education service delivery in the state was developed by the Center For Advocacy, Transparency & Accountability Initiative (CATAI) with support from the Malala Fund.
In her keynote address, the Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Keleptawa Farauta, commended the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, for driving the initiative forward and reiterated the state government’s commitment to institutionalizing the policy across all levels of education.

Mohammed Bello; the policy development consultant and CEO of the African Centre for Innovative Research and Development (AFRI-CIRD), presented an in-depth overview of the policy, emphasizing its rationale, the development process, and key objectives. He also highlighted its focus on enhancing educational outcomes through robust coordination, equitable access, and strategic implementation.
Participants were organized into discussion groups to scrutinize the draft and provide recommendations. The feedback gathered from these sessions will be incorporated into the final version of the policy, ensuring it aligns with the unique educational needs and aspirations of the state’s diverse communities.
