BUK Class 92 Raises 5m to Settle Tuition Fees, Hospital Bills of Indigent Students

The Chairman of the Bayero University, Kano (BUK) Class 1992 Forum, Muhammad Dahiru Sa’ad, has disclosed that their members raised the sum of 5 million naira as donation to the B.U.K Indigent Student Trust Fund, in the last five years.

The money, according to him, were used to settle the school fees of less privileged students of the university.

Sa’ad, made this known when he led other executives and members of the Forum on a courtesy visit to the school’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu.

He said: “In the past, the Forum had provided support for indigent students as it affects Bayero University community and the country at large. We have recorded the following achievements yearly in the last five years.

“Payment of fines/compensations at Kano Central Correctional Service Facility to facilitate the release of some inmates and provision of working materials in their workshop and other essential daily need commodities.

“Payment of Hospital bills for Indigent patients at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Murtala Muhammed Hospital. Financial assistance to families of our deceased colleagues and those less privilege members in our midst as well as settlement of their hospital bills.”

The Class 92 Forum Chairman, called on the university authority to re-consider the committee that was earlier set up for the rejigging of the BUK National Alumni to ensure elections for the various offices is conducted soon.

“Our members are committed at all time to support the National Alumni for the overall growth and development of our Alma Mater,” he said.

Sa’ad, further noted that, “As part of our collective agreements for this year’s Reunion activities, from here we are heading for personal visits to our sick members located across the states of the Federation. Our representatives in Abuja, Lagos, Katsina and Kaduna axis will undertake the visits this year.”

He congratulated Prof. Adamu for his emergence as the new VC of BUK, praying that almighty Allah guide and lead him in the new appointment as he steers the affairs of their great alma Mater.
