Bauchi State Within The Week Under Review

AREWA AGENDA – His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed had begun the week by holding critical discussions with the Ja’iz Bank and Tiamin Rice Mill.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ja’iz Bank, Alhaji Hassan Usman said that the visit was to officially seek partnership with the state government in the area of Rice production in the state. He added that Bauchi was a partner of the group, and declared their readiness to support the Governor to provide job opportunities to teeming communities of the state.
Governor Bala who thanked the group for bringing development to the state, pledged to support them for smooth take-off.
He said the project by the investors will complement the efforts of his administration in improving agricultural production and boosting Internally Generated Revenue.
Also on Monday, the Governor interacted with stakeholders and religious groups from Dass, Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas of the state.

Lawal Muazu Bauchi was held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Bauchi and had in attendance State Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela, Deputy Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Dallami Ahmed Kawule, Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Sabiu Baba, Chief of Staff, Government House Bauchi, Dr Ladan Salihu, some Special Advisers and other political dignitaries.
Governor Bala Muhammad in his opening speech said the session was to find a lasting peaceful coexistence among the communities of the state.
The stakeholders and the religious groups promised to complement the efforts of the state government in promoting peace not only in the area but Bauchi state in general.
They pledged to continue to support the government in its efforts towards executing effective developmental projects across the state.
It was also on the same day, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed distanced himself and his family from a fake Twitter account bearing
his daughter’s name – Zara Bala.
A statement released by Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor,
Lawal Muazu Bauchi on Monday described the creation of the Twitter account (@_smart__girl) as an act of sabotage to the entire family of His Excellency, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
It, therefore,
called on the general public to disregard any post from the said Twitter handle.
Reports on Tuesday, 18th of August, 2020, had it that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed had visited the ongoing construction of the North East Model School at Old Nitel Quarters, Bauchi.
The visit to the school by the governor was part of his administration’s commitment to ensure timely completion of its projects.
The Governor who inspected all the facilities being used for the project said the project was important to his administration and assured of regular monitoring for completion.
Accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Sabiu Baba, Chief of Staff, Government House Bauchi, Dr Ladan Salihu, State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam as well as Special Advisers and other appointees, the governor was received by officials of the Universal Basic Education Commission and contractors.
It was reported on Wednesday that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed presided over the weekly State Executive Council Meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Bauchi.
During the meeting, the SEC approved the construction of two new township roads in Bauchi metropolis worth over eight hundred million naira. The benefiting areas are; Central Market- Gwangwangwan, Kofar Dumi-Railway and Malam Goje – Bakin Kura linking to Muda Lawal market.
Away from infrastructural development, the Governor had approved the appointment of eight New Senior Special Assistants and one Special Assistant.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Sabi’u Baba, on Wednesday, indicated that the eight Senior Special Assistant are: Isa Sade, multilateral, Bala Sale Chiroma, youth, Harsanu Yunusa Guyaba, Local Government affairs, Musa Ahmad project monitoring, Khalid Barau Ningi, Empowerment, Zakari Inuwa Labaran, Education/SUBEB, Habiba Umar Alkaleri, Office of the First Lady, Adamu Abubakar Barde, Domestic while Ishaya Bukata was appointed Special Assistant, Governor’s Office.
The appointments, according to the statement, is with immediate effect.
Still on Wednesday, the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Abubakar Y Suleiman had led national officials of the All Progressive Congress on a condolence visit to Governor Bala Mohammed over the death of late Honorable Musa Mante Baraza.
The North East Vice Chairman of the All Progressive Party, Professor Tahir Mamman condoled with the governor over the demise of the lawmaker on behalf of the National Chairman of the party, Governor Mai Mala Buni.
On his part, Governor Bala Mohammed who expressed gratitude to APC National officials for the condolence visit, described the demise of the lawmaker as a sad incident.
The delegation comprised Professor Tahir Mamman, Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed and Hon. Akinremi Olaide.
On Thursday comes a report that the National officials of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) had visited His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi.
The Governor who welcomed the visitors to the state, assured them of continued partnership to improve and strengthen the government’s capacity on infrastructural delivery. He said their visit to the state is timely as his administration has since embarked on execution of developmental projects in critical sectors notably infrastructure.
Governor Bala informed the officials that the administration is executing developmental projects in accordance with the procurement act and in line with the international best practice of engineering.
The National President of the Council, Engineer Aliyu Rabiu said the visit was to intimate the Governor some of the mandates of the council.
The President commended the governor on infrastructural development and requested him to set up a technical committee on engineering in the state.
Lawal Muazu Bauchi, Special Assistant, New Media to the Governor reported that Governor Bala during the meeting nominated Chairman of Due Process, officials of the State Ministries of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and that of Works and Transport as well as the State Development Board to serve in the technical committee as representatives of the state government.
On the same day, the number one indigene of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed had received Major Hamza El-Mustapha RTD.
The retired Major was at the office of the governor for a visit.
Major Al-Mustapha was the Chief Security Officer to the former Nigeria’s Head of State, General Sani Abacha from November 1993 to June 8, 1998, and was a vibrant and talented officer of the Nigerian Army.
On the other hand, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State had on Friday received the resignation letter of Honourable Mohammed A Sadiq as the Commissioner, Commerce and Industry.
A statement signed by Mukhtar Gidado, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor said
his resignation was voluntary, in good faith and on personal grounds.
The resigned commissioner who described the experience he garnered in the cabinet as profusely rewarding, thanked the Governor for the opportunity accorded him to serve in the exalted position as a member of the State Executive Council.
The Governor, therefore, accepted the resignation of Honorable Mohammad A. Sadiq and wished him success in his future endeavours.
