Bauchi Police nab 11 suspects of various crimes
AREWA AGENDA – The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects for various crimes in the State within the month of January.
The Eagle Online reports the Spokesman of the Command, Ahmed Wakil, who stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday.
Wakil said the command’s operatives arrested the suspects for various crimes ranging from vandalising electricity cables to rape and thuggery across the state.
According to him, six suspects were arrested for raping a 12-year-old girl, four suspects were arrested for vandalising electricity cables and one suspect for thuggery.
He said: “Investigation revealed that the rape suspects confessed to having had carnal knowledge of the underaged victim.
“The suspects, on different occasions, enticed the little girl with monetary gifts, ranging from N100 to N200.”
The police Spokesman also said the command arrested four suspects for vandalising electricity transformers in Katagum Local Government Area.

The suspects include Adamu Ahmed, 30; Usman Mohammed, 28; Sulaiman Muhammed, 35; and Umar Abdullahi, 35, all of Matsango ward of Katagum LGA.
Wakil added: “During interrogation, the suspects confessed their crimes and revealed that they have vandalized various electricity transformers situated at different locations of the state.
“The suspects confessed to have scooped 6 to 8 Jerry cans with 25 liters capacity and sell at the rate of N12,000 to the said Ibrahim Babani, alias Wada, who is said to introduce them to the business.”
SP Wakil also said the command operatives arrested Ahmad Bashir, who criminally conspired and mobilised 10 thugs, armed with dangerous weapons, to attack Abdullahi Musa in Jaja Ward, Bauchi metropolis.
He said the suspect was arrested on January 24, 2023 after hiding for some days, adding that the operatives have intensified efforts to arrest his cohorts to face the full wrath of the law.
Wakil said the command’s Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, has directed the suspects to be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law.
