Bandits Invade Zaria Poly, Abducts HoD, Two Others
AREWA AGENDA – Suspected armed bandits have invaded the Staff quarters of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria and abducted the head of computer engineering department, Bello Atiku, while shooting a staff of the registry, Mal. Hassan Sanusi who narrowly escaped.
However, two of Mal. Hassan’s children were eventually kidnapped, while he is currently receiving medical attention at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.
The incidence which occured on Saturday night was confirmed by the rector of the polytechnic, Professor Idris Muhammad Bugajee via telephone interview, revealing that the bandits arrive the Polytechnic around 09:00pm
“I was in kaduna,when the Chief Security Officer of the college called me and informed me on the attack.

“It is true that suspected armed bandits have kidnapped one of my staff, Engineer,Bello Atiku who is the Head of Department, Computer Engineering of the college.
“He was also kidnapped along with two children to an unknown destination.”The Rector disclosed.
The Rector also confirmed that one of the staff,Sunusi Hassan was shot in the hand who narrowly escaped being kidnapped by the bandits and has been rushed to hospital for medical attention.
He attributed the incident to the porous nature of the school thereby esposing the Polytechnic community to unforeseen danger.
Engineer noted that despite vast land and abundant forest,the Polytechnic is still unpenced a situation that mitigate risk to occupants of the college.
He however appealed to the college community to remain calm as security operatives are on top of the situation.
This incident is coming on the heel of students resumption to the school after a long break necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
