On Aishat Alubankudi’s appointment
By AbdurRaheem Sa’ad Dembo

To the social media users and APC staunch supporters, Aisha Alubankudi’s name is not new way back in 2013 when APC was formed as a result of merging of three political parties. Her appointment excited me because it was a reward for hard work, patience, perseverance and loyalty. It is not an exaggeration to say that she has been a consistent and loyal party member for long.

As one of her followers on Facebook, my expectation has been that she would be appointed even from the regime of president Muhammadu Buhari . In fact, a rumour has it that the then president Buhari wanted to give her an appointment but they told Mr President that she wasn’t interested.Nobody knew whether it was true or not. Be that as it may Allah has answered her prayers. Honestly I’m excited and joyous about the news of her appointment as the Programme Manager,Grants for Vulnerable Groups.

APC as a party over the years has poor reward mechanism for hardworking and loyal party members. But to be frank President Tinubu is changing the narrative by rewarding those who have actually worked for the party.Alubankudi would travel all the way from United Kingdom for campaign and to cast her vote.I could remember in one of her posts where she shared her experience on her way back to UK after 2019 general elections.

All thanks to Allah and president Tinubu for this well deserved appointment for this distinguished Nigerian from Ijebu Jesa in Osun State

Most importantly,my candid advice for her is to be focused, disciplined, goal -oriented, consistent and pragmatic by shunning any act of corruption that may dent her image. She should understand the fact that she would be dealing with poor people’s money;it will be despicable to accuse her of cornering the money meant to fine-tuning and improving the lives of the vulnerable.Getting political appointment should not be an avenue for any Nigerian to steal;it should be a call to serve for the betterment of our country. Some people would come to tell her how she can make money. She should not listen to them, because the same people that invited a thief would be the same to alert a farmer to arrest the thief(Yoruba saying).

I pray Allah guides her and wish her success in the new responsibility.

Congratulations, Hajiya
